[파이낸셜뉴스] 미국인들의 반중(反中) 정서가 조사 이래 최고치에 달했다. 이는 지지하는 정당이나 교육 수준, 연령과 관계없이 모두 높은 것으로 나타났다. 30일 사우스차이나모닝포스트(SCMP)에 따르면 미 여론조사기관 퓨 리러치센터가 최근 미국 성인들을 대상으로 설문조사한 결과 전체 응답자의 약 4분에 3에 달하는 73%가 중국에 대해 부정적인 견해를 갖고 있다며 이같이 답했다. 이는 퓨 리서치가 조사를 시작한 15년 이래 최고치다. 전체 응답자의 64%가 "중국이 코로나19 사태에 나쁘게 대처했다"고 봤다. 또한 78%는 중국 정부가 코로나19가 우한에서 전세계로 퍼지는 데 책임이 있다고 답했다. 퓨 리서치센터 측은 "중국에 대해 아주 싫어한다고 답한 비율도 42%로 역대 최고를 기록했는데, 이는 2019년 봄 같은 응답을 한 비율 23%에 비해 거의 2배다"고 설명했다. 퓨 리서치센터는 지난 6월 16일~7월 14일 미국 성인 1003명을 대상으로 조사를 실시했다.

Anti-Chinese sentiment among Americans has reached its highest level. This has been shown to be high regardless of demographics based on political party affiliation, education and age. According to the South China Morning Post (SCMP) 73 percent of all American respondents, or three-quarters of them, said they have a negative view of China, according to a recent survey of U.S. adults conducted by Pew Research Center. This is the highest in 15 years since Pew Research began its survey.
Sixty-four percent of all respondents said, “China has dealt badly with the COVID-19 crisis.” Seventy-eight percent also said, “The Chinese government was responsible for the spread of COVID-19 from Wuhan to the rest of the world.” Pew Research Center explained, "The percentage of people who said they hated China was also the highest ever, 42%, almost double the 23% who responded the same thing in the spring of 2019." The Pew Research Center conducted a survey of 1,003 American adults between June 16 and July 14.
